A decade and a half ago, UONGOZI Institute was born. The idea for the Institute originated at the Helsinki Process on Globalization and Democracy (2002-2008), an international forum co-chaired by the governments of Tanzania and Finland. At the conclusion of the forum, the two countries made a joint commitment to establish a regional institute that would inspire and equip African leaders to deliver inclusive and sustainable solutions for their nations and the wider continent.
