UONGOZI Institute in collaboration with Prime Minister’s Office – Regional Administration and Local Government (PMO-RALG) will convene a national dialogue on “The role of local government authorities in promoting local economic development in Tanzania”.

The event, to be held on 18 December 2025 in Dodoma, will be officiated by Mr. Sospeter Mtware, Deputy Permanent Secretary, PMO-RALG. It is drawn upon from UONGOZI Institute’s research study: Transforming local economic development (LED) strategies to strengthen local government authorities’ performance in Tanzania. 

Participants will discuss how to strengthen LED approaches to improve the performance of local government authorities in the country, including aligning plans with existing policies, and strengthening institutions and coordination.
