The digital archive of Dr. Salim Ahmed Salim (www.salimahmedsalim.com), a renowned international diplomat who served as the fifth Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania and, the eighth Secretary-General of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU) from 1989 – 2001, will be released on 30 September 2023 in Dar es Salaam.
The launching ceremony will be officiated by the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, H.E. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan.
The archive collects videos and images and text documents (such as speeches, notes, and academic papers) of Dr. Salim. It offers unique insights into his journey in public service and his role in international diplomacy and the African liberation movements. It also covers the broader role that African countries played in geopolitics from the 1960s through to the early 2000s. The archive is prepared by Dr. Salim’s family in collaboration with the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania as well as friends.
